
Yesterday’s COVID-19 update from Manitowoc County wasn’t the most promising one they have ever done, but it wasn’t bad either.
An additional 35 new cases were confirmed, while 44 people were listed as recovered. This brings the pandemic totals up to 5,330 cases, 1,711 of which remain active, and 3,581 people have recovered.
No new deaths means the death toll remains at 38, and the hospitalization and ICU bed usage rates improved, but only one point each to 120 patients, and 82% of ICU beds in use.
The 46-55-year-old age group continues to be the most affected, as they account for roughly 900 cases, or about 17% of all cases in Manitowoc County. They are followed by the 56-65-year-old age group, who lay claim to about 850 cases, or about 16% of all cases.
The 26-35 and 36-45-year-old age groups each account for right around 775 cases, or about 14.5% of all cases for each group.
The least affected age group are those 86 and up, who account for about 100 cases, but that group also accounts for 34% of all deaths.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, it was a bad day as 6 more deaths were confirmed, raising the death toll to 72. Two of those individuals were in the 70-79-year-old age group and the rest were over 80 years old.
Also in the report by the Division of Public Health were 44 new cases and 179 recoveries. This brings the pandemic totals up to 9,867 cases, 1,811 active cases, and 7,984 recoveries.
