The city of Two Rivers is planning some recreational additions in Central Park.
City Manager Greg Buckley said the plans are included in the 2021 budget, including, “development of an area in summer of a splash pad and in the winter to provide an outdoor ice rink.”
Buckley tells Seehafer News they’ve talked about the need for both for several years now. He says, “The general thought is that the splash pad should go near Neshotah Beach as an extra activity for families when the lake is rough. Plus, people really miss an outdoor skating area in the winter-time.”
That thought process has evolved through discussions with the city council and the Main Street Organization to saying both of those facilities ought to be in the downtown. The focus now is looking at the west side of Central Park, which could involve a more ambitious project of redesigning and shifting the location of the bandstand. There’s $20,000 in next year’s budget to do the planning and preliminary design for, at minimum, a new splash pad and new outdoor ice skating area.
