The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a wolf hunting season will begin in November of 2021.
Gray wolves will be removed from the endangered species list in January, returning management to the lower 48 states. Wisconsin law will allow hunting and trapping to resume next year. The most recent monitoring effort indicated a minimum of one-thousand-34 in Wisconsin, primarily across the northern third of the state and the Central Forest region.
The DNR plans to create a new state wolf management plan and will create a Wolf Management Plan Committee.
