SeehaferNews.com, alongside the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Manitowoc County, the Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA, and several local banking institutions, teamed up on Giving Tuesday for the United as One Fundraiser.
Throughout the day, those involved were on Facebook Live attempting to get people to donate to the local organizations that aim to make life better for citizens on the Lakeshore.
Mike Molepske from Bank First explained that his bank wanted to get involved because “We have to give back to these organizations in the community we serve for the benefit of all of our customers.”
Mike Farley of United One Credit Union said that they got involved because the Y, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters do a lot of great work “with kids and families. People that live right here, our neighbors.”
Tim Schneider of Investors Community Bank told SeehaferNews.com, “We’re excited about being a part of it, and we have to thank my other fellow financial institutions in town for supporting it as well.”
Katie Lewis from Fox Community Credit Union said their mission is to remain strong in the community through their support and involvement, and “What better way to put that into action than to support this cause and help the children of Manitowoc County.”
The final financial institution that was involved was Shipbuilders Credit Union. Mike Steimle explained that he was actually the Chairman of the Board at the Y, “So I know the programs at the Y, and all the great stuff that get’s done for the children and the community. It’s just incredibly important to us.”
The goal of this fundraiser was $40,000 with $20,000 of that as a match from the various banks and credit unions with the other $20,000 pledged from other businesses and individuals in our community. As of their latest report, the fundraiser collected more than $37,000, which will go directly to the Y, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Manitowoc County.
