A 23-year-old man accused of holding a flamethrower at a Green Bay protest last August has been ordered to stand trial.
Matthew Banta is charged with felony bail jumping. Brown County authorities said he was in a group of four people, holding wooden bats and carrying an “Antifa” flag, who ignored police commands.
Banta has said he wasn’t holding a flamethrower. He called it a “hard torch,” saying it didn’t have a propulsion system.
He also faces charges in Waupaca County for a confrontation with police there – also in August.
