A co-chair of the powerful legislative Joint Finance Committee is stepping away from politics just four weeks after he won re-election.
Republican State Representative John Nygren of Marinette says he will take a job in the private sector.
Nygren has represented the 89th Assembly District since 2007.
The Joint Finance Committee is responsible for creating Wisconsin’s two-year budget plan.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos paid tribute to Nygren, saying he is “leaving a legacy of balanced budgets, smaller government, and lower taxes.”
