Authorities in Washington County say the driver who ran from the scene of an accident was found in a swampy area hours later.
The crash happened on a county road in the Township of Erin at about 6:30 p-m Friday.
A search was conducted for the driver but a police dog lost the scent.
That’s when deputies say they heard the man calling for help.
Searchers say it took almost 45 minutes to make it through 400 yards of water and mud that was almost waist-high in some cases.
The man had been stuck in the swamp for five hours when he was pulled out and taken to a hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.
His name hasn’t been released.
Two deputies also had to be evaluated.
