Former Marquette forward Sam Hauser proved to be just what the Virginia Cavaliers were hoping for in the first game after transferring.
The Wisconsin native was a perfect three-for-three on 3-pointers and hit seven-of-nine shots overall for 19 points as the Cavs beat Towson 89-54.
The transfer protocol had put Hauser’s college career on hold for 20 months.
Virginia is coming off a 23-and-7 season that was somewhat disappointing after winning the national championship in 2019.
Led by the six-foot-eight Hauser, they are ranked number-four coming into this season.
