The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix put up a strong fight before falling 99-69 at Minnesota Wednesday night.
The schedule isn’t kind to the Phoenix with the first two games against Big Ten Conference teams.
Minnesota had scored the first 12 points of the game and led at halftime 53-28. Green Bay cut the lead to 10 at 70-60 with just under eight minutes left, then the Gophers pulled away.
Sophomore Amari Davis led the Phoenix with 17 points and three teammates were in double figures, Josh Jefferson with 14, P-J Pipes with 13, and Paris Taylor with 10.
Green Bay takes the short trip to Madison to play the Wisconsin Badgers next Tuesday.
