All across Facebook over the weekend, it seemed that nearly everyone was posting pictures of their hunting excursions for opening weekend, and nearly everyone got a deer of some kind.
The Wisconsin DNR says that is the case across the state, as 92,257 deer were harvested and registered, with 49,052 of them being bucks. To compare to last year, that is an increase of around 2,000 deer and 800 bucks from opening weekend.
The number of people in the woods also increased, as around 250,000 more-gun, bow, crossbow, sports, and patron licenses were sold by midnight on Saturday.
Females also were more active, as 90,000 licenses were sold to women, a rise of 9% from last year.
