Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling says he received death threats after his fumble cost the team a 34-31 overtime loss at Indianapolis Sunday.
Valdes-Scantling just produced the best game of his career the week before in a win over Jacksonville.
The third-year receiver wasn’t prepared for just how strong some of the comments would be. Valdes-Scantling says, “Social media gives cowards the right to say whatever they want with no consequences.”
His profane critics ignored the fact three of his big plays against the Colts allowed the Packers to be tied at the end of regulation.
He drew a 51-yard pass interference call, then made a 47-yard catch on third down that led to a game-tying field goal. It was his block that set up a five-yard touchdown by Davante Adams on a swing pass.
