A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly choked and threatened his girlfriend.
The victim went to the Police Department to report the abuse just before 3:00 Monday afternoon.
She informed police that the 35-year-old man, whom she had been living with for around a year, awoke her in her sleep at around 11:30 the previous night and began yelling at her, accusing her of cheating. He jumped on top of her while she was in bed, choked her, and struck her.
The man reportedly took the victim’s phone from her so she wouldn’t report the incident and threatened to kill her if she did.
The suspect denied the incident occurred as the victim described, but the victim had visible injuries, so the man was arrested. He has been charged with Battery and Strangulation and Suffocation, both with Domestic Violence enhancers.
