A Manitowoc man is facing trespassing charges after he allegedly was staying at a residence that was supposed to be unoccupied.
Officers were called to the home in the 700 block of South 28th Street at around 9:00 PM on Sunday when the owner of the home informed them that they believed someone was inside the home.
When officers entered the residence, they found a 30-year-old man and a woman inside. They placed both in handcuffs and brought them to the Manitowoc County Jail for questioning.
The man said he didn’t realize that squatting was illegal, and the woman said that the man had invited her to stay at the home. She didn’t realize that he didn’t live there.
The woman was released after she collected her items from the home, but the man was charged with Criminal Trespass to a Dwelling and four counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
