Earlier this week, the City of Sturgeon Bay Personnel Committee approved a proposal to offer protection for part-time firefighters who would wages if the contracted COVID-19.
Currently, any part-time firefighters would have to take unpaid leave for the two weeks as they recovered from the virus, but the proposal added provisions that would allow for reimbursement for those individuals.
The amount of reimbursement would be based on the individual’s hourly rate for a fire call and would be comparable to workman’s compensation.
The motion was unanimously approved by the Committee, and will now go to the City Council for approval.
