During the past several months, Roncalli Catholic Schools has conducted a study of the Holy Family College property, located at 2406 S. Alverno Road in Manitowoc, as a potential school site for grades 3K-8.
The Groth Design Group and C.D. Smith Construction assisted in conducting the study, which included Onsite tours, interviews with Holy Family College personnel, and deferred maintenance reports.
The study concluded that the estimated cost of renovating the Holy Family College site is approximately $18 million, which is comparable to the estimated cost of building a new school for 3K- Grade 8 at the Michigan Avenue site.
That cost is due to several factors, including structural improvements that need to be done, bathroom remodels, as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and a gym addition to the facility.
Following the study, the Roncalli Catholic Schools Steering Committee made the recommendation to Bishop David L. Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay and diocesan leaders to go forward with the planning for a new 3K-Grade 8 facility to be built at the Michigan Avenue site.
