Controversial Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah will officially resign from the department at the end of this month.
He has been suspended since July.
Mensah and the city’s Common Council reached a separation agreement Tuesday night.
An independent investigator had recommended he be fired after three fatal shootings in five years. Mensah was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in all three, but groups have been protesting in the Milwaukee suburb after he wasn’t charged for killing teenager Alvin Cole.
The attorney for the families of the three men Mensah killed said, “This is far from over.”
Kimberly Motley says her clients will continue to fight for justice.
