The Mishicot School District has announced a transition to all virtual learning at the Middle and High School has begun and both schools are closed to in-person learning effective immediately and all extra-curricular activities are canceled effective tomorrow.
Superintendent and High School Principal Dr. Paul Orlich informed Seehafer News that the District was notified of an additional positive COVID-19 case at the Middle School Tuesday.
Other factors weighing into their decision is the increasing number of positive cases along with the availability of staff, increasing community spread, and the high positivity rate in Manitowoc County. Orlich adds that students were reminded to take their devices as well as books and materials home with them with the intention of E-Learning starting Thursday with all students following the early release schedule. Schools are not totally closed but are closed for in-person learning.
Tentative plans are to return to in-person learning on November 30th with Orlich emphasizing that their return is “dependent upon the efforts of all to follow the recommendations provided by health experts such as wearing masks, social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings.”
