As we start getting into the latter stages of November this is the time for homeowners to have their furnaces inspected for potential problems.
Jeff Korinek, Service Department Manager at Schaus Mechanical in Manitowoc, tells SeehaferNews.com this is the busiest time of the year for them. He said, “We have an inspection, cleaning, and tune-up offer they do in the service department and they schedule those two, two and a half weeks out.”
Korinek explains the failure to replace the furnace filter is common as we enter the heating season. “We appreciate any service call we receive,” he said, “But, I try to talk with the customer on the phone and ask them if they’ve checked the filter because a blocked one can prevent the furnace from coming on and heating the home.”
Another issue, he says, can be overlooked as we transition from one season to the other is the thermostat. Korinek explained that recently, “There was about a thirty-degree difference in temperature in a 36-hour period and some homeowners still had their thermostat set on cooling, rather than heating.”
Jeff Korinek said his inspection crews follow a 20-point form in performing furnace checkups.
