Despite the influx of COVID-19 cases in the Manitowoc County area, Roncalli Catholic Schools have been able to continue to have their classes in person.
We spoke with John Steltzer, the President of the local school system, and he said that they have been doing in-person learning since late August, and that “It’s a testament to our faculty, staff, students, and families. We are trying to keep our kids as safe as at all possible during difficult times and we think it’s a great benefit for them to be here in person, and our families and staff agree.”
Many would agree that most students simply learn better while learning in physical classrooms, rather than via video conferencing software, and Steltzer agrees, saying “Everybody has to make their own decision, and the opinions are a wide spectrum in that particular area,” but, “We feel strongly that our staff can help our kids to grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, as well as physically through their after school activities, or musically through…the fine arts programs.”
Steltzer went on to say that everyone in the schools is working hard to follow all guidelines set up by the local, state, and federal health departments, including deep cleaning, mask-wearing, and handwashing.
