Badgers head football coach Paul Chryst says he is “hopeful” redshirt freshman Graham Mertz will be able to start Saturday’s game at Michigan.
Mertz has been sidelined for three weeks after testing positive for COVID-19, however, he didn’t miss any action because Wisconsin was forced to cancel games against Nebraska and Purdue.
Mertz had one of the best first starts of any U-W quarterback when he connected on 20-of-21 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns in the season opener against Illinois.
It has been 10 years since the Badgers won a game at the “Big House” in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
