The Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Manitowoc is continuing their yearly tradition of hosting their Dose of Hope event, but as many have had to do before them, they added a virtual twist.
Christma Rusch, the Executive Director of the addiction recovery center in Manitowoc, says that normally this event is their biggest of the year.
“It’s usually a live event and is very interactive,” Rusch explained. “We used to have a live gallery, and we were partnered with the West Museum last year. We had our art and our Faces of Recovery.”
Even though they are not doing anything in person, Christma says it will still be a big event.
“It’s just a two-hour stint of time,” Rusch said. ”Joseph Green is back with us. He’s a lyrical poet genius, long term recovery, and he came in to do a workshop with our population about storytelling like that. The impactful moment when things change. So we are actually recording individuals who did that workshop with this national, brilliant performer.”
The Dose of Hope event will take place on Saturday.
