Officials report calls to the Safe Communities Madison-Dane County help hotline are up by 50% since April.
Many people are struggling during the coronavirus pandemic, during civil unrest outbursts, and the just-completed divisive election.
Program manager Kristina Vaccaro says Safe Communities has helped more than 750 people this year – about double the number of people helped in an average year.
The C-D-C recently reported 40-percent of all U-S adults say they are struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues.
With the big holidays coming, things could get worse before the end of the year.
