Last week, the Manitowoc County Board held their traditional early November meeting, and passed the Executive Budget for next year. There was overwhelming support for the budget, as it passed by a vote of 23-2.
We spoke with County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer, who voiced his pleasure with the budget. “I’m really grateful and proud of the budget process,” he told SeehaferNews.com. “The typical County taxpayer will use a little less than the previous year, and that’s always good.”
Ziegelbauer also said something that has been his calling card since taking office in 2006. “We’re holding the line on taxes, and we have an aggressive highway program,” Ziegelbauer said. “We have the problem of the pandemic, but other than that we are sailing along.”
The County Executive also said that despite the pandemic this year, they are able to maintain a health budget for next year because they have had several strong years financially, as has the City of Manitowoc, who has yet to pass their budget for next year.
