
MONDAY
– A Manitowoc man is facing a litany of charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child and sent her photos of his genitals. The suspect is facing 2 counts each of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, Strangulation or Suffocation, and Physical Abuse of a Child, one count each of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material, Possession of Fentanyl, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and four Counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
– The Green Bay Police Department is investigating a stabbing incident, which occurred early Sunday morning. A witness reported the incident to officials at around 1:30 AM and said that it occurred in the 600 block of Northern Avenue. Officers were able to locate the suspect, a 49-year-old Green Bay resident and take him into custody.
– A shooting incident over the weekend in Sheboygan is being investigated by police. The crime was reported to dispatchers at around 3:30 Sunday morning, with the caller stating their neighbors in the 1500 block of Main Avenue were fighting, and that gunfire was heard. – In a show of humanity and community, dozens in Appleton were on hand on Sunday for a fundraiser in support of a Navy veteran who was struck by a drunk driver in August. 60-year-old Matt Schipferling was crossing the street in the area of St. Mary’s Church in Menasha with his service dog, when 28-year-old Terrance Driscoll blew through the stop sign, striking Schipferling and his dog Cherokee.
TUESDAY
– Anyone who has been paying any attention over the past two months have noted a massive spike in the number of COVID-19 cases not only locally, but in the entire state of Wisconsin. Manitowoc County Health Officer Mary Halada stated bluntly in a letter to the community, “This is an emergency. Emergencies call for drastic and collective action… We’re all tired and we want to return to normal, but that cannot happen until we get the virus under control.”
– The Winter Walking Program through the City of Manitowoc Recreation Department started up on Monday. Those who wish to participate simply need to bring a dry pair of shoes to the Manitowoc Citizens Park Gymnasium anytime between 8:00 and 10:30 AM Monday through Friday through April 23rd.
– The Green Bay Police Department has released more information regarding the stabbing incident over the weekend. 49-year-old Christopher Lahey has been charged with 1st Degree Reckless Injury, and Prostitution.
– A Brown County woman is facing several charges after she allegedly attempted to convince her father to kill himself last year. 55-year-old Teal Peters entered a not guilty plea on all charges on Monday, which includes Recklessly Subject an Individual at Risk to Abuse, False Imprisonment, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Intimidate Victim/Use or Attempt Force.
WEDNESDAY
– The votes have been counted, and there will be no change in local representation at the state or national level. -Despite a psychiatrist’s report saying the opposite, the Green Bay man who was arrested after allegedly stabbing a Green Bay Police K9 believes he is ready to go to trial. 31-year-old Sai Vang was charged with Causing Injury to a Police Animal, Resisting an Officer, and Disorderly Conduct.
– According to Manitowoc County Veteran’s Service Officer Todd Brehmer, there will be a ceremony on Veterans Day on Wednesday, where they will honor those who have donated $1,000 or more to the Eternal Flame Fund. The program will begin at 10:30 AM.
– Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels says that feels like most people followed the guidelines the City issued for Halloween. He did admit that some did not follow the guidelines but said “I guess we’re not going to throw a five-year-old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in jail for not wearing their mask.”
THURSDAY
– The Basswood Road Compost site in Manitowoc had to be closed temporarily late yesterday afternoon when a rather large fire occurred in a pile of leaves. Crews returned to the site Thursday morning to battle hot spots and flare ups. Officials believe someone dumped ashes onto the dry leaves.
– The scheduled trial for a Green Bay man accused of murder has been postponed. Scott Anderson, the defense attorney for 33-year-old Brion Hatcher, is reportedly getting his license suspended by the Wisconsin Supreme Court for 60 days for “inattention to client needs”.
– The Manitowoc Area Visitor & Convention Bureau is joining forces, starting today, with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s Big Bundle Up campaign. The drop box is located at the MAVCB, 4221 Calumet Avenue, for donors to drop-off warm clothing items. This is the 10th year of the Big Bundle Up and, to date the Wisconsin Department of Tourism charity drive has collected over 185,000 warm winter items to help families in need.

FRIDAY
-The beautiful weather the lakeshore area has been experiencing has contributed to re-opening the search for a missing hunter in Manitowoc County. 29-year-old Joshua Lueptow went missing while hunting in the Collins State Wildlife Area in Rockland last week. The Sheriff’s Department is working with Wings for Hope Wisconsin and Northstar Search and Rescue who will be providing additional technology and personnel to help find Lueptow.
– There was a rollover crash near Road America Wednesday night, and the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is looking into what happened. According to reports, the vehicle was traveling on Highview Road near the nationally recognized racetrack at around and in the process of the crash took out a power pole.
– The Manitowoc Public Library will be featuring a video presentation on their Facebook in early December to highlight the dazzling Evergleam Aluminum Christmas Tree. Barb Bundy-Jost will be hosting the presentation on December 9th, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM as she takes you on a stroll through the Enchanted Evergleam Forest at MPL.
– A local representative in the state Senate has been named as the Senate Majority Leader. Senator Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg , who represents the 9th Senate District, is taking the place of Senator Scott Fitzgerald in the position. LeMahieu served on the States Finance Committee last session and is the top Republican in the Senate.
