Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu
A local representative in the state Senate has been named as the Senate Majority Leader.
Senator Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg , who represents the 9th Senate District, is taking the place of Senator Scott Fitzgerald in the position. LeMahieu served on the States Finance Committee last session and is the top Republican in the Senate.
Fellow Republican in the Assembly, Paul Tittl said of the news, “I am extremely excited that Devin LeMahieu was elected Majority Leader in the Senate on Thursday. He will do an outstanding job. He has been very receptive to the people of the 9th Senate District, and I am looking forward to working with him and bringing Wisconsin forward.”
Republicans hold a 21-12 majority in the Senate, one seat short of a veto-proof super majority.
LeMahieu first took office in 2014, representing the district which includes most of Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties as well as a portion of Calumet County.
