The Appleton Police Department and the Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Valley have joined forces to battle youth homelessness.
The partnership was spawned by the fact that November is National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention month, and an estimated 18,853 children were identified as homeless in Wisconsin in 2018 and 2019.
Other notable statistics, include 118 runaways reported in Appleton in 2019, and 28 human trafficking reports in Wisconsin involved a minor last year.
The Police and Boys and Girls Club are also joined by the City of Appleton and the Trout Museum of Art, who all seek to raise awareness and provide services, support, and resources for young people in our community, with a program called Youth on the Move.
