After spending many hours working on it with the Finance Committee, Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley has presented his 2021 Executive Budget to the City Council for approval.
There are several positive things included in it, including a slight increase in the General Funds Budget.
“Our General Fund Budget, which is about $10.6 million, is up 0.52%,” Buckley explained. “We will require no tax increase, I’ll repeat that, no tax increase, for any of our city functions. The city portion of your tax bill will not go up, in fact if you own a $100,000 house it outta go down a little bit, maybe $1.80 or so.”
However, in order to do that, there had to be a pretty major change from this year’s budget.
“We are eliminating this year a city benefit that we have been awfully happy to provide through the years, that being the city contribution to employee’s health savings account,” the City Manager lamented. “We are eliminating that due to budget constraints. That is about $100,000 reduction across all budgets.”
Buckley also told SeehaferNews.com that there will be no increase in health insurance premiums, or utility rates. He said that they made sure to do that because “it has been a tough year for people, and we aren’t entirely sure what lies ahead.”
