After what to some has seemed like a never-ending election cycle, the day has finally come for in person voting.
This year’s election has been quite different from others, as many people have taken advantage of mail in voting, or in person absentee voting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels reported that as of yesterday, 56% of eligible voters in the city had already voted.
That being said, there are still many people who plan to vote in person today, and Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack is reminding those people to remain safe.
“I think the advice is really the same recommendations whether it be at a polling place or out in public,” Waack told SeehaferNews.com. “Basically, just maintaining that physical distance, of course bring along and wear a mask. That will help protect others incase you might be incubating an infection. And if those around you are in the same bat, that will help protect you from getting it from them.”
Waack also suggested you bring hand sanitizer, and apply it after you vote.
Those who do not known where they are supposed to go vote, can find that information at MyVote.WI.gov. Those with absentee ballots have until 8:00 PM tonight to drop them off at the drop box outside City Hall.
The polls opened at 7:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM. WOMT Radio will be hosting election night coverage from the time the polls close until 11:00 on 107.9 FM and at WOMTRadio.com with Rick Sawyer and Brian Norton.
