Anyone who has been paying any attention over the past two months have noted a massive spike in the number of COVID-19 cases not only locally, but in the entire state of Wisconsin.
According to the Manitowoc County Health Department, the state went from 100,000 cases to 200,000 in the span of 36 days, even though it took 7 and a half months to reach 100,000 cases.
In a letter to the community, the Health Department stated bluntly, “This is an emergency. Emergencies call for drastic and collective action.”
They then pleaded for County residents to follow the health guidelines they have been stating from the beginning of the pandemic, such as social distancing, wearing masks, and getting tested on the onset of symptoms, but also called on businesses to promote work from home opportunities, to require masks, and to limit their capacity to 25%.
They also stated, “We’re all tired and we want to return to normal, but that cannot happen until we get the virus under control.”
