Nursing Homes have been a source of concern since day one of this pandemic.
That statement from Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack who added multiple things are being done within nursing homes, locally.
He said they are “limiting visitors, although that is extremely hard on families. That is a very important step in preventing it from coming into the nursing facility at all.” They are also testing at a rather frequent rate, both the residents and the workers at the facility.
As for a light at the end of the tunnel, Waack said, “We also look forward to a potential vaccine.” Waack said that nursing homes will be “high on the list” of places to receive vaccines in order to “get it to the people most vulnerable.”
The Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director said they’re signing up nursing homes and assisted living facilities for a federal program to make sure vaccines get sent to those locations once they’re approved.
