Cross Country runners from a number of local and area high schools are set to compete this afternoon at the State championships. In Division-2, the Valders boys seek a ‘4-peat’ when the Vikings run at Colby it also marks the 5th straight appearance for the program at state, where Bill Dietrich’s squad finished runnerup in 2016.
The Two Rivers Girls cross country team is also competing at Colby, along with the Kiel boys and 3-individual qualifiers for the Raider girls, and Hunter Krepline of the Brillion boys. In the Division-3 State Run at West Salem…Manitowoc Lutheran has qualified its’ entire Boys team as well as individual Girls qualifier Brooklyn Luebke, Roncalli’s Brayden Yanda and Owen Behnke of Reedsville. With COVID-19 protocols in place there’s a reduced field of 12 teams at each location. Girls races begin at 9:30 AM this morning with the 1st Boys race starting at 10:10 AM.
There are post-season matches in Boys Soccer this afternoon. Roncalli/Two Rivers now with an 11-&-1 mark travels to another top seed, 10-&-0 Seymour, today at 1:00 PM to determine the Division-2 Sectional Champion. There are 2 matches of area interest in the Division-3 Sectional finals: top-seeded Oostburg tangles with University School of Milwaukee for the Sectional crown at Kohler at 1:00 PM.
And, finally St. Lawrence Seminary battles St. Mary Catholic in a 4:00 PM start at Kiel.
The Division-3 Girls Volleyball Sectional champ will be determined later today at Howards Grove where the top-seeded Tigers play host to Wabeno/Laona.
