Yesterday was a record day in Manitowoc County for all the wrong reasons.
The Health Department reported 5 deaths related to COVID-19, which nearly tripled the pandemic total to 16.
In his Tri-Weekly COVID-19 Briefing on WOMT and WCUB Radio, Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack reacted to the sad news, saying “It’s just a reminder that although some people have very mild symptoms with COVID-19, some people have much more severe symptoms and sometimes have that very tragic outcome.”
He also said this is exactly why officials have been stressing the importance of quelling the spread because “you just never know if your outcome will be mild, or your outcome will be severe.”
Also in yesterdays report were 79 new cases, 36 recoveries, and 103 negative tests. This brings the pandemic totals up to 2,867 cases, 1,671 of which remain active, 1,180 recoveries and 19,507 negative test results.
