A local state senator has received an award from the Wisconsin Counties Association.
9th District Senator Devin LeMahieu, a republican from Oostburg, was honored this week with a “WCA Outstanding Legislator Award” for his work on behalf of county government during the 2019-2020 Legislative Session.
According to a statement from WCA Executive Director Mark O’Connell, “Senator LeMahieu is a true leader not only in his district, but in every corner of our state.” O’Connell continued, “He is a tireless advocate for county issues and is committed to creating sensible public policies for all Wisconsinites. We are incredibly proud to present him with this award and look forward to continuing our work with him in the future.”
The award presentation came Monday at the Manitowoc County Board meeting.
The Wisconsin Counties Association Outstanding Legislator Award is handed out biennially to a select group of legislators who have represented county interests in both the legislature and in their districts.
These legislators have demonstrated leadership for counties on key issues, legislation and the state budget.
