No “Jump Around,” no marching band, no roaring crowd – but football returns to Camp Randall Stadium tonight (Friday).
Kickoff for the much-delayed first game of the 2020 season is set for 7:00 p-m.
Wisconsin is a 19-.5 point favorite over Illinois – the team that upset the Badgers last year.
Wisconsin will be playing without graduating stars like Jonathan Taylor, Quintez Cephus, Chris Orr, Tyler Biadasz, Zach Baun — and this year’s injured starting quarterback Jack Coan.
The game gives redshirt freshman quarterback Graham Mertz a chance to live up to the hype and U-W defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard the opportunity to enhance his national reputation for creating effective defenses.
The Badgers say they’re not looking for revenge for last year’s 24-23 defeat, but you can bet all the players remember it.
