One of the major drawing points for the lakeshore area is the beautiful Mariners Trail, which connects Two Rivers and Manitowoc along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
The City of Two Rivers has been working on doing some resurfacing of the trail, as City Manager Greg Buckley explained, saying “We just finished up with Northeast Asphalt doing about 1.1 miles at the north end of the trail, from the wayside opposite Renee’s Chocolates up to McDonalds. That was completed at a cost about $74,000.“
After that stretch was completed, the City still had some remaining money in the budget for the project, “So, Council…approved a contract for another about half mile of trail down in the area of the Woodland Drive wayside, or Spirit of the River Wayside,” Buckley said. “That project will resurface the trail from there up to Taylor Street by the hospital.”
That contract with Northeast Asphalt out of Green Bay is worth just shy of $39,000.
