A witness says South Milwaukee Police asked a man to put his weapon down “at least three times” before the man was shot to death.
Officers were called to the location Monday at about 1:00 p-m. They were told a man was having suicidal thoughts.
Officers were talking to the man when he fired a shot and a 22-year veteran of the police force returned fire.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice will investigate the incident.
The witness says he saw three officers with their weapons drawn. He says several onlookers were told by police to go back inside.
