The longest continuously operating team in indoor soccer won’t be playing this winter.
The Milwaukee Wave announced Monday it is canceling the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Anticipated attendance limits at Panther Arena are too strict. Team owner Mike Zimmerman says the Wave needs about four thousand people in the stands for a game and the state-imposed limits would cap that at about 250.
The Milwaukee Wave have won seven M-A-S-L championships in 36 years.
The league is moving forward, but the Wave will be one of at least three teams sitting things out.
