One question that Manitowoc Chief of Police Nick Reimer has been receiving a lot over the past couple of months is how the Halloween tradition of Trick-or-Treating will be affected by COVID-19.
He has been saying that it all depends on what the situation looks like when the time comes.
“Things aren’t great right now in Manitowoc County with the pandemic,” Reimer said. “The mayor and I have talked quite a bit about this in trying to find the safest way to do it.”
And the duo came up with a solution. “We feel right now we can have trick-or-treating as long as people go out with only people in their households,” Reimer explained. That way “you are not exposing yourself to anyone outside your household.”
The Police Chief recommended that anyone who is feeling sick, or tested positive stay home, and to not participate in handing out candy.
He also requested that everyone wear masks and opt to leave candy in bags outside as opposed to having face to face contact.
