A 32-year-old Manitowoc man was arrested yesterday after he attempted to cash fraudulent checks.
The investigation into the crimes began on Wednesday, when the man, who used a false identity, attempted to cash a $125 check at Bank First National from an account which has been closed since 2018. The teller did not cash the check and the man left on a pedal bike.
The rightful owner of the check said that the man likely got a hold of her old checkbook after he found it in a dumpster outside of her home.
Officers were called to Bank First National again yesterday afternoon after the same man attempted to cash a check that was backdated for August of 2019. He was arrested and found to be in possession of several other fraudulent checks.
The man is now facing 5 counts of Forgery, one count of Obstructing an Officer, and 7 counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
