We have received several reports of a heavy police presence at the Marathon gas station on Washington Street in Manitowoc Thursday evening.
The reports came in at around 9:30 PM and noted 7 police vehicles. The citizen report also indicated that an unspecified number of people were being held at gun point by the police.
We have reached out to the Manitowoc Police Department. and they said that their reports do not show any weapons being drawn.
Based on what was seen on the report, it appears that the suspect was pulled over for a traffic violation and was being uncooperative.
The officer we spoke with explained that if a report of an uncooperative individual is reported, multiple vehicles tend to go to the area just in case, but don’t necessarily actively get involved.
We are waiting for a call from the second shift commander for more information.
