Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer presented his 2021 Executive Budget to the Board of Supervisors last night.
Ziegelbauer says the last several years have focused on major projects including replacing and expanding the Rapids Street Bridge and next year they will, “focus on transportation with a focus on an aggressive plan for road Maintenance, supporting law enforcement, park improvements and continued response to the COVID-19 crisis.”
Ziegelbauer tells SeehaferNews.com that dealing with the pandemic has not been a financial burden.
“Coupled with Federal and State aid we have a strong financial plan,” he explained. “We’re in a strong financial position. What we did the last ten years to save money to efficiently operate pays off in this time of crisis.”
The total spending package is $71.7 million with a tax levy of a little over $31.1 million. Ziegelbauer said that the average County taxpayer will pay a little less next year, continuing a decade long trend.
A public hearing will be held October 26th with anticipated passage on November 5th.
