Hartman’s Bakery in Manitowoc has been a lakeshore staple since its inception as Yindra Bakery in the 1950’s, and now they have a second location in downtown Two Rivers.
TR Native Austin Rehraurer and his wife Luissa purchased the Business from Steve and Joanie Hartman last year and held a soft opening yesterday. Ausin spoke with SeehaferNews.com and said that they have “been working on this a little over two months. It couldn’t have been a better day. Many people welcomed us saying how happy they were to have us and we’re just as happy to be in Two Rivers.”
As for why they decided to expand, Austin said “When we bought Hartman’s Bakery our goal was to grow the business. We saw the great potential and combined with community support we decided to take this challenge head on. We are excited to see where this venture takes us.”
Nearly 70 years of tradition is tough to uphold and the Rehraurer’s want to the Hartman name justice. “Me and my wife had no baking background,” Austin explained. “So we had to rely heavily on the employees to get us off the ground. I’m really happy with the quality of products and being able to hold up this great reputation.”
The bakery employs about 20 people with five clerks working in Two Rivers. Hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting for their new location on Washington Street will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.
