As the city sees a huge uptick in the number of shooting cases, the Green Bay Police Department is working on putting together a task force to address the issue.
In the first two weeks of October, a total of 10 shootings have taken place, with 8 occurring in the first 5 days, and two more this past weekend.
As one might expect, the majority of the cases involve younger people, specifically between the ages of 17 and 26 years old and are between people who know each other.
Police Chief Andrew Smith reported that they have seen more than double the amount of gun crimes so far than they did at this time last year.
The task force is expected to be deployed as early as this week and will have the job of being out on the streets during the times these crimes have been occurring to try and catch the people involved.
