It’s the time of year again where the Manitowoc County Board is focusing on the budget for next year.
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer was on the WCUB Breakfast Club recently, and he broke down what the Board will be doing this month regarding the budget. “We’ve got two meetings for the County Board,” he explained. “A budget referral meeting on Tuesday the 13th, [where] I’ll present my budget to the County Board. Then on the 26th…we will have a public hearing that people can speak out…about anything in the budget.” Then in early November, the board will vote on Zigelbauer’s proposed budget.
The County Executive also spoke about what is all in his budget, including what has been his mantra for years, holding the line on taxes. In fact, he expects there to be a slight decrease in taxes. He also said “We will have an aggressive highway maintenance program. We will do about 12.4 or 5 miles of road resurfacing, and we will build another bridge in the County.”
Zigelbauer did not specify where that bridge would go, but also said that they will be focusing on parks over the next couple of years.
