Two women are in custody following a vehicle pursuit in rural Manitowoc County Wednesday.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig says that they received an attempt to locate a stolen car and firearms from the Sturgeon Bay area. A Sheriff’s Lieutenant spotted the vehicle in question about 12:20 p.m. traveling east on Goodwin Road and County Highway B in the Town of Manitowoc.
The pursuit lasted nearly three minutes reaching speeds of approximately 100-miles-per-hour when the driver failed to negotiate a curve on County Highway B losing control and crashing into a ditch hitting multiple trees before coming to rest. The suspects fled on foot and were taken into custody a short distance from the vehicle. Authorities confirmed the car was stolen and discovered drug paraphernalia while searching the inside of the vehicle.
Sheriff Hartwig says no more information will be released at this time pending a completion of the investigation. Agencies assisting on scene include the State Patrol, Manitowoc, Two Rivers and Mishicot Police Departments, Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center, The Wisconsin DNR and PK’s Auto in Mishicot.
