Uncertain financial times mean the Milwaukee Brewers might have to cut their payroll for the 2021 season.
General manager David Stearns points to the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Brewers had a payroll of a team record $132 million for the 2019 season.
About $40 million was spent on players’ salaries in the just-completed season, which would equal about $110 million over a full, 162-game season.
Stearns says it isn’t clear yet if the Brewers can maintain that level next year.
