Sixty days have passed since the mask mandate was put in place, and the numbers are staggering.
In the 60 days prior to the pandemic, 263 cases were reported in Manitowoc County, compared to 884 reported in the 60 days since. That is a 236% increase in cases.
The number of negative tests have also gone down as well. As of yesterday’s report from the Manitowoc County Health Department, only 4,491 negative tests have been reported since the mandate, while 7,004 were reported the 60 days before the mandate.
Another staggering statistic shows that the positive return rate has jumped from 3.6% before the mandate to a whopping 16.45% in the 60 days since. That rate throughout the pandemic sits at 7.6%.
On the positive side of things, 411 people have recovered from the virus since the mandate went into effect, compared to only 90 the two months prior.
