In what is turning out to be their biggest fundraiser this year, Ascend Services in Manitowoc is getting ready for their annual 5K Walk/Run.
Deana Genske, the Executive Director of Ascend, says that due to COVID-19, they have had to change how the event scheduled for Saturday October 10th will run. While they are going to do an in-person walk and run, Genske said that they are also allowing virtual participation as well “for those who think ‘I would rather just do it safer…from my own place.’”
If you do choose to do the walk/run virtually, Genske is asking that you send pictures of yourself participating to them, so they can share your experience with everyone.
As for what the money raised will go toward, Genske said “We also put it back into how we can better our services for the people we serve…We have been very creative at trying to come up with new services, to be able to work with people virtually and safely. We are looking to try to provide more funding for those services.”
There are several people who are joining the walk virtually from places not so local. Genske told SeehaferNews.com that there are people signed up virtually in West Hollywood California, New York City, and across the globe in Budapest Hungary.
