COVID-19 has affected the entire population in different ways, with each age group experiencing different changes.
According to Lisa Lamkins, the Director of AARP Wisconsin, one of the major problems the older generation is experiencing revolves around the election. “What we’re seeing is that voters 50+ really are concerned about voting safely,” Lamkins told SeehaferNews.com. “In fact we just did a poll, and we found that the majority of 50+ voters won’t be going to the polls on election day. Instead they’re going to vote early or by absentee.”
Lamkins explained that the percentage of voters in that age group that intend to go to the polls in person this year is around 45%, compared to 73% in previous elections. There are other options for voters who do not feel comfortable voting in person. Besides absentee voting, Lamkins explained that early voting starts on October 20th. This is basically in person voting, but without the lines associated with election day. She suggests calling your local city clerk to see when that will be available and where.
