Two adults are in custody following a vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning in Manitowoc Rapids.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says a Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle just before 2:30 a.m. traveling southbound on I-43 near U.S. Highway 10. The vehicle fled reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour exiting off at U.S. Highway 151/Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc.
The operator attempted a westbound turn but was going to fast and crossed all four lanes before ending up in a ditch -overturning the vehicle before coming to rest on its roof. A 32-year-old male and 19-year-old female were trapped inside.
They were eventually freed and transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. An initial investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from Oak Creek with stolen plates from the Milwaukee area. Illegal Drugs were also discovered during a preliminary search of the vehicle.
No additional information is being released at this time as this incident remains under investigation. Assisting agencies on scene were Manitowoc Police, Manitowoc Fire and Rescue, Manitowoc County Dispatch Center and Hi-Way 42 Garage.
